Together, father and daughter team Jeff and Carmen form the Ost piano tuning business.   Jeff commenced his apprenticeship with BB Whitehouse, Brisbane in 1974, while Carmen joined the family business in 2015 after completing the Australasian School of Piano Technology course in Melbourne.   Both are accredited members of the Australasian Piano Tuners and Technicians Association and the Piano Tuners and Technicians Guild of Queensland Inc.   To tune your piano they use a combination of aural tuning, along with the enhancement of computer technology.

To stay up to date with advances in technical and tuning knowledge is most important.   This is achieved by attending workshops, conventions, as well as seeking advice from fellow technicians.   Since beginning her career this has proved valuable to Carmen, especially as she has taken a closer interest in player piano repairs.
